WINE TOURS

Matching wine and food has become a very popular trend in the last decade and continues to evolve. Rooted practices that white wines are matching exclusively with white meat and fish, and red wines with red meat and exclusively with strong food, have been discarded for a log time. Many of the old "rules" are lost by the spread of world cuisine and the "fusion" of the cooking. Also, the styles of wine have evolved quite a lot so certain dishes can be equally well combined with light red wines and full barriqued Chardonnay, e.g. Of course, we can enjoy a delicious bottle of wine that may have nothing in common with the food we eat. But one of the greatest pleasures is to enjoy a meal where the wine is in perfect harmony with the food.

Wine tours are held in ancient corridors, 10 meters below street level, where temperature is constant - 12 degrees Celsius.

Did you know that the real king Scorpion I, 5000 years ago, was buried with approximately 40.000 liters of wine? Did you know that Romans were putting in wine a lot of different types of herbs such as thyme, fennel, mint, sage, basil, honey, sea salt etc? Have you heard that in Western Europe Constantinople was better known under the name Winbourg (The City of Wine)? Do you know how the cork is made and who made the first wine barrel or bottle?
These are just few of the information you can hear on our wine tastings. We are not concentrated only on cultural history of wine making, but quite the opposite, with the tasting of premium wines we will show you how to pair food and wine properly and give you some helpful tips.
